I Know Too Much
Nick was killed in a plane crash! During this time, I excused myself and did anything around my Grandma's house than watch and listen to their wailing and outbursts of consuming grief as the news spread of this terrible tragedy. This tragedy happened on the Soap Opera, 'The Young and The Restless'. But guess what? He's ALIVE! And has been rescued! Oh, happy day! But it gets very complicated for you see he has forgotten the last two years of his life. In that time he has divorced his wife, Sharon, who is the mother of their two children, Noah and Cassie. Cassie was killed in a car accident and he doesn't remember that either. He also didn't know he was divorced from Sharon. He didn't know he had an affair with the evil, Phyllis, and they married and had a child, Summer, together.
That is just ONE soap opera. My Grandmother has channel 8 on during the afternoon. Then there are the other ones like 'The Bold and the Beautiful' and 'The Guiding Light'. Reva, on GL, has gotten weird. She has this all-consuming desire to get her ex-husband back. But it's complicated because he is engaged to her sister. And so it goes.... Reva's ex-husband, after a bout in prison, but was innocent, has decided to go into the ministry which is freaking out his fiance (Reva's sister), at least that was the last I paid attention to that story-line. I'm sure some afternoon soon I'll get caught up.
I am up at my Grandmother's most afternoons tending to a wound on her leg that is now needing some air-time and also tending to things to help her live independently at home. Soap operas come with the package. Grandma likes to tell me all about the story lines as we are sitting together so I watch and I listen. Now I'm starting to tell her some of the story-lines that she doesn't get quite right. Scary.
The last time I watched a Soap Opera was in college! After morning classes we'd all pile into someones dorm room and watch "General Hospital". Ah, those were the days. I watched 'The Young and the Restless during summer break in high school when I wasn't on the golf course or off to some part of the country in a tournament. Paul, Nikki and Victor are still on that show! They were 'Young and Restless' then but I must say they are now the 'Old and Restless'.
Comments
JM, you and I can watch the soaps together in separate houses. :-)
I use to watch Days of Our Lives in college but I don't anymore. But one thing I know, When I turn on TV to watch the noon news, I see the same faces and about the same story lines..ie, things have never changed. Everyone has slept with everyone else and there is still a murderer on the loss. Roman has been 3 different people...and the story line goes on and on.
Guess current fashion/style is ONE redeeming quality to Soaps! Grandma thinks they have such good actors and writers for these shows. I personally like it when Grandma tunes into the Food Network.
scrolling through the neighborhood...oh, here's Susan...I Know Too Much, what a cute title...oh, shit! Nick died in a plane crush...poor Susan!...wait, who the F is Nick?...did she tell us about a Nick?...
::: laughing :::: I can just picture your reaction. Glad my life is boring compared to the daily lives of these Soap characters.
Nick? Ooooo, he is such a cutie. If he, or his kind, were in my life I'd guarantee you'd know about him. :-D
Y&R is the only story I still watch. I used to be a Another World fiend when it was on the air.
BTW, I'm on Team Phyllis, all the way. ;o)
Phyllis was sitting on his bed holding Summer. He mentioned he didn't know what he could have seen in her to fall in love and marry her (I don't know the history here so I don't have a clue). She replied, "You were good to me". Seemed to infer she was a better person because of him. What do you make of that? I'm sure it's pretty complicated but can you sum up why you are on Phyllis' team? I have a feeling that statement of hers to Nick is NOT why you are on her team. ;-)
Actually, I've always liked Phyllis, even when she was an evil vixen. I like that she's strong and a survivor. Phyllis was well on her way to becoming a better person before she and Nick got together. But how she handled their relationship, was really an example of how far she had come. So in some ways, he/their relationship did make her a better person. And, I think what she said to Nick shows a vulnerability that she would've never shown before. Nick's comments were more reflective of the old Phyllis.
I don't like Nick's ex-wife, Sharon. She's always been pretty whiney and now she's just plain manipulative.
FYI - I'm really NOT THAT invested in this show...really.
Neither am I! ::: laughing ::: ...... but look at us!
As the title of this post says, "I know too much"..... could also be titled, "I know more than I care to know".
