Brooklyn and Austin

Brooklyn and Austin
Well, her mama named her Brooklyn Lord only knows why. She never been East of the Mississippi. Raised here all her life. Just a small town Texas girl. Dreamin' of the lights of New York City. But if she can't never get there, maybe someday her baby will. Well, he never been to Texas but he knew down in his soul he was born to be a cowboy, ridin' in a rodeo. So he named his boy Austin. Plants a cactus in his brownstone windowsill. But if he never gets West of Jersey, maybe someday Austin will. Chorus: Funny how much you can pour your life, your soul, your dreams into who you love. Well, it takes all ya got and gives back more than you can take. Starts with a spark, burns through your heart, turns into a roaring flame. And if you're willin' to fuel the fire, forever you will never be the same. Laid over in St Louis, grounded by the snow. Had a Starbucks in the airport. He said, "Where you tryin' to go?" She said, "Austin." He said, "What? Funny that's my name!" And she said, "Hi. My name is Brooklyn". And he knew things would never be the same. Now you don't have to have a crazy name to see your dreams fulfilled. Just ask Brooklyn and Austin ..... they named her 'Jill' Chorus: Funny how much you can pour your life, your soul, your dreams into who you love. Well, it takes all ya got and gives back more than you can take. Starts with a spark, burns through your heart, turns into a roaring flame. And if you're willin' to fuel the fire, forever you will never be the same.

[this is good]
Wow.. tonight, just before hearing this tune for the first time, I was up late eating Corn Pops when my 18 yo son and his wonderful girlfriend came home after seeing a movie together. Our brief interaction was so redolent with warmth and ease; as i don't see him much on campus now it felt so special to enjoy a moment with the two of them. This song speaks to how much we can pour into the promise of our children's lives. And in return enjoy a flash of happiness and peace that your 20-year struggle to raise him right was worth it.. Amazing coincidence (or was it?) that I grabbed this song from you Susan to hear tonight.. Thanks for posting it.. I hope all of our kids enjoy a future as peaceable as my few minutes were tonight over a bowl of cereal... Cheers!
